Aishwarya Rai's mehendi ceremony held

The celebrations for the Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan wedding continue in its second day with the Mehendi ceremony.A day after the festive celebrations at the sangeet at the Bachchan’s residence Prateeksha in Juhu, the Mehendi ceremony was held at Aishwarya’s residence La Mer apartments in suburban Bandra on Thursday.

According to the Indian tradition, mehendi or henna is given by the groom’s family to the bride to apply in elaborate tattoos on her hands and feet. The ceremony is always held before the wedding at the bride’s residence.The Mehendi ceremony at Ash’s residence was a private affair with only close relatives from the bride’s family in attendance. Abhishek’s sister Shweta along with actress Sonali Bendre took the Mehendi to Ash’s residence. The mehendi was specially ordered from Sojat in Rajasthan.Shweta, Sonali and some members of the Bachchan family arrived in a bus for the Mehendi ceremony in the evening. The ceremony lasted at least 3 hours. Ash wore a red and gold zardosi sari designed by Nita Lulla.On the other hand, a small dinner has been organized at the Bachchan’s residence Jalsa where celebrations are likely to again continue till late in the night.Abhishek and Aishwarya will get married on April 20 at the Bachchan residence Prateeksha.
